Well, I guess we finally have been pushed to the wall. The most logical thing to do would be for everyone to stock up and then quit smoking tobaccoo by the end of your stash. It is rediculous how much money they will collect on this tax.
I am NOT against helping kids and getting them every sincle cent’s worth of medical help we can cough up for them (no pun intended) but this is raping the poor to feed the coffers of pharmacuetical companies…ONCE AGAIN!!
I know it’s tough to even think about quitting, but dang it, it would show these radicals on Capitol Hill that pushing TOO hard gets nothing, zero, zip, nada from the American consumer. I mean I really do feel like I’m being doinked by a 6′ bologna here! (Metaphorically as I have no personal experience with bologna!!)
There really isn’t much we can do at this point but, it should show every RYO customer what apathy is all about. Sit around and talk about being screwed OR that they SHOULD HAVE sent letters, e-mails and phone messages to the Senate long ago. I wrote all of my representatives and of course they didn’t listen.
I got a “thank you for your support” post card from my Assemblyman, a “I appreciate your concern” towards children’s health letter from my Senator and “time are tough, we have to find cash ’somewhere’ note from my Congressman, but I tried. I just wish there would have more constituants from my area (and EVERYONE”S) that sent their disapproval notice. Once again we are faced with NOT re-electing any ^%^#@*!!@^%$ that voted for this Bill.
Okay thanks, I feel better now! I gotta find my credit card and order before I sign off!!!
Blessings of Peace, Enlightenment and Contentment to all,

Bless you back Reverend! Sorry about the fruitless results of your efforts in appealing to our government leaders. On behalf of myself, I want to thank you for your labor. But alors, what outcome from such appeal could one expect these days? I heard something on the news last night. I heard it and then I promptly forgot about it. Until I read your posting. It was a movement across the nation, and something you said brought it back to mind, specifically its name: “Tea Party!”. Google it.
I feel your pain. I believe there is a war on smokers. We did not start the war, we somehow are in it though. I do not mind paying for children’s health care. It would be nice though if I had enough to pay for my own kids and wife. Just because I happen to smoke does not make me a criminal. The last time I checked, it is still a free country, for now that is. Looks like we are headed down a long, hard, unfair, discriminating road. Did I say discriminating? Yes, we are being discriminated against. We are being profiled, corraled, and robbed so that Obama and his congress can get rich and over expand our government to ridiculous proportions.
Firstly, I’m all for adding a little tax to help out the kids but DAMN! 0ver 2000% increase on RYO tobacco???
Ok, so does anyone KNOW why the RYO crowd got hit with the higher tax than manufactured smokes? Big Tobacco…they forecast that a MAJOR part of their market would cross over to RYO and their profits would take a big nosedive. Hell, Phillip Morris bumped their prices AHEAD of the deadline in anticipation of lagging sales once the tax hit! PACs ought to be outlawed then burn in hell. The only ones THEY serve are the Corporations (who run government anyways).
The only saving grace here is that it’s STILL almost half as costly to roll my own! I’m still getting screwed more in taxes vs. manufactured, but I’d rather do that than support any more involvement with Big Tobacco.
